Allegra

Breakfast was an… odd experience.

Despite smiling, and listening to our stories intently, Dante was off. Despondent even.

I held his hand, squeezing tightly, showing him silent support throughout. I understood how overwhelming it was for him. Though he knew what we told him about his past was the truth, he still didn’t have his memories to correlate everything. He was wary, that much was obvious. But I would be by his side every step of the way to help him through this.

“How do you feel?” I ask, when Dante comes out of the bathroom.

Naturally my brother had the guest room, the one Dante always used to stay in when he visited the Estate, made up for him. It was expected. I knew there was no way he would allow Dante to stay in my room. What Nico doesn’t know is that we are adept in our need to be with each other. My bedroom is just down the hall from Dante’s and on the other side of the house from my brother. Dante has spent many a night, coming to my room in the dark of the night when everyone is asleep and unaware.

He rubs a towel through his dark wet hair, his lips twisted up thoughtfully. My gaze goes to his six pack, trailing up his torso and taking in the black ink that adorns his gorgeous body.

“Like what you see?” his rumbled voice pierces the fog in my brain, my eyes shooting to his. He smirks, smugly, satisfaction flashing in his eyes. My cheeks warm, having been caught ogling him so openly.

“You know I do.” I mumble, squirming in the big armchair in the corner of his room.

He chuckles, closing the distance between us.

Bending, he rests his hands on the arms, caging me in. My gaze drops to his rapidly hardening cock, tenting the white towel. I swallow. His dick is so big, I know with certainty it is going to hurt, but in the best kind of way, when we eventually make love.

“It’s all yours, principessa,” he murmurs.

Grinning, I run my finger up his cheek. He nuzzles into me, making my chest warm. God, I love this man.

“How are you feeling?” I repeat the question. “Honestly? Tell me, Dante. You seemed… off at breakfast.”

Sighing, he straightens, taking a step back. “Honestly?” I nod. “I’m overwhelmed. It’s a lot to take in. I know in my soul this is where I’m supposed to be. Where I belong. But…” he trails off, pain flickering in his dark eyes. “I feel like a stranger. Like I am looking in on someone else’s life. I don’t remember anything, angel. It’s fucking frustrating. I looked around that table at you all and you feel like family in here.” He slaps a palm against his heart. “I just don’t recognize anything up here.” He says, pushing a palm against his head.

My heart breaks for him. At the anguish in his voice. And though I hate that he can’t recall any of our past, it must be so much worse for him.
